How did you get into recruitment?
I got into recruitment more by chance than by design having met Adam Walker, our Managing Director, at a BBQ back in 2005. After a long and interesting conversation about careers and aspirations it became apparent that recruitment could offer me a meaningful and challenging career, and I was invited in for an interview in London. Nearly 8 years later the rest is history!
Which aspects of your role do you enjoy the most?
Having previously been an emergency response Police Officer I had experience in dealing with people from all walks of life on an hourly basis. This human contact and interaction has always interested me and recruitment continues to offer this. I enjoy meeting with people (both clients and candidates) to understand their jobs, companies and the wider market. It is in these meetings that I learn the most and further my knowledge and understanding. I also like the fact that recruitment is one of the few meritocratic businesses to work in. Invariably the harder and smarter workers get the best rewards.
Is there an element of your role that you find the most challenging?
Real estate is such a quick and ever changing industry to recruit for so we must always be on top of our game and pushing the boundaries of our knowledge.
What do you like most about working at Cobalt Recruitment?
Where do I start, the company ethos, the people, the nature of the day job. I have been with Cobalt Recruitment for nearly 8 years and have had my career and goal aspirations met, this is the Cobalt way, working as a team!
What advice would you give to someone considering a career in recruitment?
Go for it. Recruitment is a fast paced, exciting and rewarding industry to be in, and you will meet some wonderful people and friends!
