Building Surveyor

My client is a leader in the provision of environmental solutions, providing a comprehensive range of services to the water, waste and energy markets. The property team is centrally located in the West Midlands and has an immediate requirement for a Building Surveyor to join the team.

The appointed surveyor will support the operational businesses, in respect of occupation property, acquisitions and disposals. There will also be a focus on managing those properties with a view to maintaining asset value, compliance with legislation, lease obligations etc.

Key duties will include;

• The preparation and agreement of Condition Surveys
• Dilapidation assessments in advance of potential Landlords claims
• Negotiation of dilapidation claims
• Procuring new works (e.g. new build, alterations / additions, fit-outs, refurbishment etc.) from initial scheme to Final Account
• The management of external consultants and advisors (property and environmental) where appointed for specific schemes
• Management of Asbestos legislative requirements in respect of co-ordination of retained consultant and removal works
• Management of CDM requirements
• Preparation and submission of Planning and B. Regulation applications
• Producing drawings and making amendments to plans on the Cad system
• Processing and obtaining Landlords consent when applicable
• Advise on current compliance requirements / issues
• Develop an understanding of and become involved in environmental issues as they are related to Group Property including the management of environmental consultants for remedial and associated works
• Providing Building Surveying support to other personnel within the Estates Department as well as personnel throughout the company

Candidates must possess either MCIOB or MRICS status.
