A leading bulk retailer is looking for a top National Development Manager to take the reins of their existing and forward development activity.  The purpose of this role is to manage the property development function of the business which includes carriage of existing projects, unlocking the potential of strategic land holdings and the acquisition and development of new sites.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Project Planning/Reporting
  • Project Delivery and management
  • Resource Consenting and Plan change
  • Team development
  • Consultant team establishment
  • Critical review and preparation of development feasibilities
  • Delivery of viable projects on time and on budget
  • Relationship Management


You will have proven property development skills in the bulk retail space, with a particular emphasis on the front end development functions including investment origination and execution. Also important is the ability to view the development opportunity laterally to ensure that the opportunities being considered are given the best chance of stacking up.

This will be a fairly autonomous role that requires you to manage overall activity, and internal development team of two development managers, your own pipeline as well as numerous internal and external stakeholders.

The primary objective that informs this business’s developments is providing the best amenity possible for the end user, therefore your cross section of development skills and retail science knowledge is paramount to this role, as is the transformation of turning vision into reality and your ability to create development opportunities.
